Æge visits Solbergfoss hydropower plant

For the company's strategy gathering in June 2023, we visited Solbergfoss, a run-of-river hydro power station in Indre Østfold. We would like thank Hafslund for a great tour of this historic and important power plant, securing the energy supply in Eastern Norway.

Some facts about the plant:

Solbergfoss 1, which was completed in 1924 after an 11-year project, had seven units installed. Later, six aggregates have been installed, the last in 1959. One of the greatest architects of the time, Bredo Greve, designed the building.

Solbergfoss 2 is a modern facility located hidden underground and was completed in 1985. The plant has one large Kaplan turbine with the same capacity as the 13 in the old station combined. The Mørkfoss-Solbergfoss plant is owned by Hafslund Kraft (66.4%) and Statkraft (35.6%).
